Apollo 2013
Apollo is a talent contest when black students can showcase their talents on stage to impress industry big wigs. Auditions are held and participants are selected by a group to perform for a live audience. This event is not only focusing on UK but Eastern Kentucky University and Northern Kentucky University as well. This expands the community but also attracts more competition.
Mr. & Mrs. Black UK
Mr. and Mrs. Black UK is a campus wide beauty pageant focusing on those of the African American race. As well as a way to bring attention to the black community this event also serves as a charity event offering reduced price of admission with the donation of a canned food item. This pageant is held on campus during homecoming week.
